Overview

Cleave is a DEX aggregator on six EVM chains. It splits one trade over many pools and paths, swaps between chains in one step and quotes the whole trip with its fees already in the price, for people, apps and AI agents alike.

What Cleave does

  • Splits your trade: Cleave's quote engine divides one trade over many pools and paths, and Cleave's own contracts run every part in one transaction.
  • Swaps between chains in one step: one quote and one signature on the source chain cover the swap on the way out, the bridge and the swap on arrival. Any token to any token, between any two of the six chains.
  • Gives one all-inclusive quote: Cleave's fees are inside the price. Only costs charged by others are listed.
  • Serves people, apps and agents the same quotes: the app, the partner API and the agent tools (MCP, REST and x402 gas top-ups) all price trades with the same engine.

Built by Cleave

  • The quote engine that splits a trade over many pools and paths.
  • The contracts that run a split swap in one transaction and return any input that could not be routed.
  • The cross-chain router that runs the source swap, hands the tokens to a bridge and carries the swap on arrival, all from one signature.
  • The swap on arrival, and its fallback: if it cannot run, the recipient gets the bridged token instead.
  • The delivery service that finishes a transfer on the destination, free or for a small fee shown before you send.
  • The gas top-up contracts, and the agent layer: MCP server, REST tools and x402 gas top-ups.

Bridges that carry tokens between chains are third parties. Each route shows its own time and costs before you send.

One quote, all costs

  • Cleave's fees are inside the quoted price. There is no separate Cleave fee line.
  • Costs charged by others are listed: a bridge or relay fee where the route has one, a messaging fee paid in the native coin on routes that need one, and network gas.
  • A delivery fee appears only when you choose paid delivery.
  • The gas top-up fee is the one Cleave fee shown on its own, in USDC, inside the amount you pay.

See How quoting works for what goes into a quote.

Chains

Ethereum1ETH
Optimism10ETH
BNB Chain56BNB
Polygon137POL
Base8453ETH
Arbitrum42161ETH

Every chain has same-chain swaps, cross-chain swaps to and from the other five, and gas top-ups delivered in its native coin. A gas top-up can be paid in USDC on every chain except BNB Chain; over x402, on Base, Arbitrum and Polygon.

Between chains

  • Some routes move ETH, USDT or WBTC as themselves, so a token can arrive as one of these without a swap.
  • On routes that end with a step on the destination, Cleave can run that step for you.
  • When several routes can carry a transfer, Cleave ranks them by how certain the outcome is, then by speed, then by the amount delivered.

See Swap between chains.

Apps and AI agents

  • Agents get the same quotes through an MCP server, a REST API and x402. See Agents.
  • Gas top-ups: a wallet that holds USDC but no native coin can get ETH, BNB or POL on any of the six chains by signing one USDC authorization. Signing costs no gas. See x402 gas top-up.
  • Partners get a quote and a ready transaction for their wallet or app, with their own referral fee paid on-chain. See API.
