Why a split quote
Push a big swap through one pool and the price runs away from you. Cleave splits it over many pools and paths at once, so a bigger trade gets a better quote with less price impact.
For example, a question like "best split route for 50 ETH to USDC on Base?" came back as 6 paths: 43.7 %, 21.4 %, 10.7 %, 9.9 % and 9.3 %, plus one smaller route.
What you get
- The split: every pool and path your trade takes, and the share on each.
- Partial-fill refunds: if part of your trade can't fill well, Cleave doesn't force it. That part comes back to your wallet in the same transaction.
- Cross-chain swaps between supported chains, with the fee and the expected time up front.
- Price impact notes, straight from the quote.
- A link that opens the same quote in Cleave, where you sign in your own wallet.
It covers 6 chains: Ethereum, Arbitrum, Base, BNB Chain, Polygon and Optimism.
Where to use it
- In Grok Bot: add the Cleave Quote template from the exhibit page and ask for a trade.
- On X: mention @cleaveprotocol with a trade, such as "how much is 2 ETH to USDC?", and get a live quote card back.
- From a post: link any X post in Grok Bot, or tag @bot under one, and it reads the trade from the post.
- In your own agent: take the SKILL.md from the exhibit page.
Answers arrive in the Grok Bot conversation. When you tag @bot, X posts its own short confirmation.
How it reads a trade
- It understands trader shorthand, such as "arb" for Arbitrum and "2.5k" for 2,500.
- With no amount, it quotes 1 unit of the token.
- With no chain, it uses Ethereum, or the chain where the pair actually trades.
- From a post, it reads that post plus the post it replies to or quotes, and takes the amount, tokens and chain from the text.
How it works
Cleave Quote is a Grok Bot template plus a single SKILL.md. It uses X through Grok Bot's built-in X tools, so it needs no X API key or app credentials of its own.
- Tokens: it resolves tokens against Cleave's token list.
- Token context: if a token is unlisted or shares a symbol with another token, it searches X for the token's contract address with terms like scam, honeypot or rug, and links the public posts it finds.
- Quote: it calls Cleave's public quote API,
https://api.cleave.fi/, and returns a quote card with a link that opens the same quote in Cleave.v1/ quote
The quote API is described on the API page.
